<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve device for an internal combustion engine that can reduce pump loss by improving flexibility of changing valve lift amount with respect to the valve operation angle. <P>SOLUTION: The variable valve device includes: a driving cam 2; a supporting shaft 3; a sway member 4 pivoted swayably on the supporting shaft 3 for allowing an intake valve 10 to make open/close operation; an input arm 5 mounted relatively movably on the sway member 4 and having an input arm roller 13 contacted with the driving cam 2; and a switching mechanism 6 provided between the input arm 5 and the sway member 4, can switch between a locked state for restricting relative movement of the input arm 5 with respect to the sway member 4 and a lock release state for releasing restriction of the relative movement of the input arm 5 with respect to the sway member 4, and allowing the intake valve 10 to be closed by switching from the locked state to the lock release state in a step of lifting the intake valve 10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
