A pseudo random number generation apparatus and method. The apparatus comprises: a first linear feedback shift register (LFSR) and a second LFSR. The first LFSR and the second LFSR have opposite shift directions. The first LFSR is used for generating a k-bit first register value in each clock cycle, and the second LFSR is used for generating a k-bit second register value in each clock cycle. According to the shift direction of the first LFSR, the k-bit first register values are respectively connected to the k-bit second register values that are arranged in a direction opposite to the shift direction of the second LFSR, and logic calculations are performed respectively to generate k-bit random numbers. The provided pseudo random number generation apparatus and method eliminate the correlation between the register values in the LFSR in adjacent clock cycles, and generate independently and uniformly distributed random numbers with a simple circuit.
