The optical sensor (30) preferably comprises a photodetector (36) and a plurality of light emitting diodes (35). A sensor signal from the optical sensor (30) is processed with a filtered accelerometer output signal from the accelerometer (710) to create a filtered vital sign signal used to generate a real-time vital sign for a user.
