<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which resolves, in a constitution of conveying an image carrying belt with a plurality of driving members, uneven tension of the image carrying belt generated when a conveyance speed of the image carrying belt by each of the driving members is different from each other, and thereby reduces color shifts or transfer slurs. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a connection member 23 which simultaneously contacts, with respect to an inner peripheral surface of an intermediate transfer belt 11, at two positions of the upstream side and the downstream side of a secondary transfer roller 20, and changes its position according to a tension change of the intermediate transfer belt 11 at the two positions; a tension detection lever 24 which changes its position in conjunction with the position change of the connection member 23; and a distance measurement sensor 25 for detecting the position of the tension detection lever 24. When the conveyance speed of the intermediate transfer belt 11 driven by a drive roller 12 coincides with the conveyance speed of the intermediate transfer belt 11 driven by the secondary transfer roller 20, a force given by the connection member 23 to the intermediate transfer belt 11 is made smaller than a self weight of the connection member 23. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
