<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map information generation system that enables a new road to be detected with high accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: When a vehicle has traveled on a new traveling route, there are obtained the number of travels A, which is the frequency of traveling on the traveling route, and the number of times of Off B, which is the frequency of traveling with an engine having been stopped when the vehicle has traveled on the new traveling route. Then, an engine stop ratio "B/A" that is the ratio thereof is calculated. If the engine stop ratio is lower than a low limit threshold, it is determined that the new traveling route is a new road, and if the engine stop ratio is higher than an upper limit threshold, it is determined that the new traveling route is a parking lot. Consequently, the determination on whether the new road is a new road or a parking lot is more accurately distinguishable, thus enabling the generation of map data with high accuracy. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
