PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a turbocharger failure caused by an increase of a generation rate in oil coking of a bearing and abrasion wear of the bearing, in a turbocharger mounted on an engine.
SOLUTION: When a variation B in a turbocharger speed by open and close of a waste gate valve 121 at a current idling operation is smaller than a normal range (A-C) supposed based on aging degradation, it is determined to be the turbocharger failure and, e.g., a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is lit. As a result of the configuration, when the increase of the generation rate in oil coking and the abrasion wear of the bearing causes aging degradation of the turbocharger 100 (reduction of a turbo speed) to be larger than that supposed, it is allowed to be determined that the turbocharger 100 is abnormal, and a user can find the turbocharger failure by the lighting of the MIL or the like.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
