<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a master for thermal stencil printing which can acquire an print image with a high image quality and easily perform identification of a kind and detection of a fault of a porous resin film. <P>SOLUTION: (1) The master for thermal stencil printing has a porous resin film formed on a thermoplastic resin film by coating with a fluid including a resin and drying the same with a color material contained by the porous resin film. (2) In the master for thermal stencil printing described in (1), the color material is the pigment. (3) In the master for thermal stencil printing described in (2), the pigment is compounded in the fluid as a pigment dispersion with the pigment dispersed in a resin solution without using a dispersant.
