The air conditioning system has a compressor (1) for compressing a refrigerant vaporized in a vaporizer (5). The refrigerant flows from the compressor to a condenser (2) and from the condenser to an expansion device (4), in which the refrigerant is expanded. A device (6) is provided between the condenser and the expansion device, by which the gas bubbles contained in the liquefied refrigerant are reduced in volume or divided into smaller gas bubbles so that reduced vibrations are produced at the inlet in the expansion device to trigger the gas bubbles. An independent claim is included for a method for operating an air conditioning system, particularly for motor vehicles.
