摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthetic method for alcohols by the reduction of an ether bond by a hydrogenation reaction. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a method of manufacturing alcohol by the reduction reaction of an ether compound by using, as a reaction medium, carbon dioxide having a pressure of normal pressure (0.1 MPa) or more and 20 MPa or less and a temperature of 32&deg;C or more and 200&deg;C or less and containing 0 mol% or more and 1,000 mol% or less of water with respect to the amount of carbon dioxide, using, as a catalyst, a solid catalyst containing mesoporous silica carrying nanoparticles composed of at least one of palladium and rhodium as a carrier, and using, as a reducing agent, hydrogen whose pressure is 0.1 MPa or more and 10 MPa or less. There is provided a new technology/new product relating to alcohol synthesis by the reduction of an ether bond for directly synthesizing an alcohol by cleaving the ether bond, which is difficult in a conventional manner, by a reduction reaction by hydrogen. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
