<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an LED drive device which can quickly eliminate output charges remaining behind at shutdown and has eliminated the erroneous operation of an LED short-circuit detection function. <P>SOLUTION: An LED drive device A is an integrated semiconductor device comprising: a DC/DC controller A1 which controls an output stage B used to generate an output voltage Vout from an input voltage Vin for supply to light-emitting diodes C; an output current driver A2 which generates an output current ILED for the light-emitting diodes C; and an LED short detection circuit A4 which, by monitoring the cathode voltages VLED1 to VLED4 of the light-emitting diodes C, detects shorting of the LEDs.
