Abstract The present invention relates to a column chromatography method for producing carrier-free, highly pure 177Lu compounds for medical purposes. In the method of the invention a cation exchanger and a suitable complexing agent are employed. With the method in accordance with the invention it is for the first time possible to provide carrier-free, highly pure 177Lu compounds in milligram quantities for pharmaceutical-medical purposes in a highly pure form, from 176Yb compounds irradiated with thermal neutrons wherein the radionuclides 177Lu and 17sYb are present for the purification at a mass ratio of approx. 1:102 to 1:101.
