<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device allowing a user to easily perceive functions and having improved operability, and a hot-water heater. <P>SOLUTION: Control means 3 includes a function of causing display means 1 to display a selection display screen 100 in which selection item names are displayed, and a detailed explanation screen 110 in which the selection item names and detailed explanations of the selection items are displayed. When a first operation relating to an explanation request is performed by operation means 2 in a state where the selection display screen 100 is displayed on the display means 1, the control means 3 transfers the screen to be displayed on the display means 1 from the selection display screen 100 to the detailed explanation screen 110.
