<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately correct an image formation condition corresponding to a factor affecting image quality. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 1033 determines the combination of a comparison result between a statistic showing granularity of a small dot and a predetermined reference value SDa and a comparison result between a statistic showing granularity of a large dot and a prediction value SDp. The combination shows what kind of factor reduces image quality and how much any image formation condition should be corrected. The CPU 1033 selects an image formation condition to be corrected from combinations of the comparison results, determines a correction amount thereof and corrects the selected image formation condition using the correction amount.
