摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To curtail the time required for switching to an alternative RDS broadcast concurrently serving a program identical to that of an RDS broadcast when the RDS broadcast quality is deteriorated, in the RDS radio receiver 10. <P>SOLUTION: Search of the alternative station is started by controlling tuners in good and bad broadcast receiving conditions of a main tuner 12a and a sub-tuner 12b selecting the same RDS broadcast (a source station) during a diversity period before search of the alternative station to respectively select a source station and an AF station (alternative station) (S48: YES&rarr;S49). If the receiving quality of the source station and the AF station is respectively low and high (S51: YES&rarr;S52: YES), it is checked whether a signal is received or not from the AF station during the latest constant period in the past (S53). If the signal is received, it is determined whether the PI (program identifier) code of the AF station obtained by the reception matches the present PI code of the source station (S54).
