The invention relates to the use of a powder made from a polymer, containing two or more components having functionalities suitable for Diels-Alder reactions, that is, a powder mixture (dry blend) of powders from at least one of the reactive components, respectively, which jointly undergo the Diels-Alder reaction, and which are capable of a retro Diels-Alder reaction, in a rapid prototyping process. The invention further relates to molds, produced using said polymer powder in a layer by layer, formative process, in which selective areas of a powder layer are fused. After cooling and hardening of the areas previously fused layer by layer, the mold can be removed from the powder bed.
