The present invention alleviates changes in water quality inside a jellyfish holding tank and suitably brings about the natural death of retained jellyfish even when a large number of jellyfish have congregated, whereby jellyfish processing costs are further reduced. Jellyfish congregated in the vicinity of an intake port are drawn in by a jellyfish transport pump (114), and are transported alive to a jellyfish holding tank (150) formed by netting in the shape of a basket. The jellyfish holding tank is provided with a fixed liner sheet (160) and a moveable liner sheet (170) for lining the netting on the surface layer part. The moveable liner sheet is moved up or down, whereby the liner range is adjusted and the volume reduction rate of the jellyfish can be controlled. A jellyfish detection sensor (140) for detecting passing jellyfish is provided to jellyfish transport outlet tubing. The amount of jellyfish that flow into the jellyfish holding tank is detected, and the liner range is adjusted in accordance with the inflow rate of jellyfish to suppress the volume reduction rate of the jellyfish, whereby changes in the water quality are alleviated. A water injection pipe (180) is provided to the top of the jellyfish holding tank, and water is injected into the top layer part to suppress conditions in which backflow forms.
