<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide images of a wide dynamic range and little noise using global exposure. <P>SOLUTION: In a pixel array part, a plurality of unit pixels having a first charge storage part comprising a photoelectric conversion part for generating and storing optical charges corresponding to a received light quantity and a buried MOS capacitor and a second charge storage part are arranged, and batch exposure of the plurality of unit pixels is possible. A vertical drive part and a system control part perform first drive of storing the optical charges generated by the photoelectric conversion part during an exposure period in the photoelectric conversion part, the first charge storage part and the second storage part, or second drive of storing the optical charges generated by the photoelectric conversion part during the exposure period in the photoelectric conversion part and the first charge storage part.
