The invention relates to a device for heating up the air by means of electrical resistive elements slaved to an hourly programmer system. This device allows the vehicle to be demisted and deiced without direct intervention of the driver. It comprises an electrical power supply, a heat source, a fan, and a programmer. It can either be built into the heating/air-conditioning system of the vehicle, or produced as a separate system, this separate system however being incorporated into the fixed equipment of the vehicle. It may alternately consist of a removable device, independent of the fixed equipment of the vehicle: this is then an accessory.
