PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and an operating method thereof are provided to reduce data transition in a data operating unit by sequentially operating all even gate lines to apply a scan signal. CONSTITUTION: A receiving unit(410) receives a timing signal and image data from a system. An image data processing unit(430) outputs the received image data by rearranging the same. A pattern detecting unit(440) analyzes the image data to detect a specific pattern. A control signal generating unit(420) generates a control signal. The control signal operates a gate operating unit.
