A method of distributing health data, a distributed health record system and program implementing same, are disclosed. The invention is concerned with securely accessing patient or health data of an individual when emergency healthcare is required. At least one portable computerreadable medium 20 has a unique identifier 22 and a respective encryption key, and stores encrypted health data of an individual and decryption means. A server 108 connected to a network stores the or each unique identifier and the or each respective encryption key. When the medium is read by a computing device 101 connected to the network for accessing the encrypted health data stored therein, an authorization token is obtained at the server from the decryption means, and the respective encryption key of the medium is obtained from the server with the decryption means based on the authorization token, whereby the encrypted health data can then be decrypted with the respective encryption key received. |
