The switch (22) has a reading and writing device (20) for reading and writing data, where operating condition of the switch is readable by the reading and writing device using a unit. The unit comprises two transponders (T1, T2) that convey the operating condition of the switch to the reading and writing device. The transponders are fastened to a movably guided carrier (23) and the reading and writing device comprises multiple reading and writing areas. The transponders are arranged depending upon the operating condition in the reading areas of the reading and writing device. An independent claim is also included for a lifting device comprising two different guidance units.
