<p>A dual operated padlock comprising first and second locking mechanism either of which unlock a shackle 30. One of the locking mechanism is preferably a permutation code lock having a rotating dials 50 with teeth engaged with internal clutch rings 52; rings 52 having a bore with a protruding annular blocking ring having a gap/notch which selectively blocks axial sliding of the shackle which has a series of protruding lugs (59, fig.6); when in the unlocked position the gaps in the clutch rings 52 align with the lugs on the shackle in the unlocked position the shackle may be rotated and pressed down in order to disengage clutches 52 from the dials to allow the combination code to be changed. The other locking mechanism is preferably a key operated cylinder lock which may have a cam driving a sliding latch plate 111 which blocks axial sliding of annular rings 52 of the first locking mechanism; in the retracted unlocked position the plate disengages and allows the clutch rings 52 to slide upward under the bias of a spring 120 allowing the shackle to slide upward into the unlocked position.</p> |
