APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CHARACTER INPUT THROUGH A SCROLL BAR IN A MOBILE DEVICE

PURPOSE: A character input method with a scroll bar in a mobile device sensing gesture input and a device thereof are provided to improve user convenience for searching for contact numbers by identifying characters related to a gesture sensed for the scroll bar and searching for the contact numbers based on the identified character. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(140) identifies characters related to a gesture and senses gesture input by using a touch screen(155). The control unit includes the identified characters in a group of characters displayed on a search bar of the touch screen and composes a content list based on the group. The control unit identifies a type of the gesture and associates the type with a request for including the characters in the group. The control unit identifies the characters from a character list of the scroll bar displayed on the touch screen to identify characters related to the gesture.
