The invention relates to a femoral rod for total hip prosthesis intended to maximize the bearing surface in the cortical bone due to its external shape which accurately reproduces the internal outline of the femoral canal, thereby permitting better osseointegration, and which is self-aligned by pressing. According to the invention, the rod consists of three parts, i.e. a proximal part consisting of a neck (3) provided at its top with a self-locking cone (4) which has the role of ensuring coupling with a spherical joint (5) sliding on an acetabular cup (6) fixed in the iliac bone, a medial part wherein there is cut a honeycomb-like structure (7), where, in the lateral zone there are provided two orifices (8 and 9) for centering purposes with a view to finishing the self-locking cone (4) and some medial and lateral surfaces (a) of said zone reproduce the shape of the femoral canal, and a distal part consisting of a shank (10) having a flattened shape (b) in the frontal plane, where, the same as in the case of the medial part, the external outline of the zone reproduces the shape of the femoral canal, which ensures optimization of the effort transfer within the bone-prosthesis assembly.
|
