An overhead conveying vehicle is provided in which an article is not likely to collide against a lid drop preventing member when the article is being raised or lowered. The overhead conveying vehicle is contrived to contain and convey a suspended FOUP (4) having a lid (4a) removably provided on a side face thereof. The overhead conveying vehicle comprises a conveying vehicle body, a hoist mechanism, a lid drop preventing member (62), and a power transmitting mechanism (82). The hoist mechanism is provided at the conveying vehicle body and can raise and lower the FOUP (4). The lid drop preventing member (62) is arranged in close proximity to a front face of the lid (4a). The power transmitting mechanism (82) retracts the lid drop preventing member (62) away from the front face of the lid (4a) when the FOUP (4) is being raised or lowered. |
