The present invention relates to a ballot box for receiving ballot papers, for example during an election. The ballot box 10 comprises a base 12 and walls 14, the base and walls defining a cavity 16 for receiving at least one ballot paper, wherein the walls and/or the base of the ballot box are adjustable to define a ballot-receiving cavity for accommodating ballot papers. The base and walls are preferably internal walls inside a housing 22. The housing may include a lid 18 containing a slot 20 through which the ballots are inserted into the box. The walls 14 can be retained in channels formed in the housing. The base 12 may have a concave form and may be biased towards the lid, slot or cavity top 26. The ballot papers can be maintained in an orderly stack for ease of counting. Also disclosed are a kit for providing a ballot box according to the invention, and a method for assembling a ballot box according to the invention. |
