PURPOSE: A navigation device with a front map preview function and a front map previewing method are provided to display a screen for a route guide and a screen for previewing a front side at the same time without the separate operation of a user. CONSTITUTION: A navigation device with a front map preview function comprises a display unit(310), a coordinate receiver(320), a map storage unit(330), and a control unit(340). The display unit displays images. The coordinate receiver receives the position coordinate information of a vehicle. The map storage unit stores map images for a route guide. The control unit displays a position of the vehicle conformed by using the received position coordinate information on a map image read from the map storage unit on the display unit and the map images read from the map storage unit on the display unit at the same time.
