PURPOSE: A stereoscopic image display device and a method are provided to display a guide display for a displayed viewpoint image and block one of a left eye shutter and a right eye shutter, thereby accurately synchronizing a display viewpoint of the viewpoint image and an open/close viewpoint of the shutter. CONSTITUTION: A communication unit periodically transmits a synchronizing signal to a shutter glasses(S125). A control unit mixes guide display data in scaled image data corresponding to a request of shutter glasses synchronization setting(S130,S135). The control unit composes of an image frame so that display order of a left eye frame and a right eye frame is converted(S155,S160). The control unit outputs the image frame to a display(S165).
