A method for manufacturing a color filter substrate for an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to enable a driven LC cell to function as a mask to reduce the number of masks for forming color filters, and enable the LC cell driven according to gray voltage to function as a half-tone mask to form a column spacer, thereby reducing its manufacturing costs when forming the color filter substrate for the LCD. A method for manufacturing a color filter substrate for an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) comprises the steps of: forming a black matrix(220) of defining a pixel area on a transparent insulating substrate(210); coating a color photo resist in an exposed front; arranging pre-formed LC cells(100) to correspond to the black matrix and pixel area; driving a sub pixel(111) of the LC cell and lithographing a color filter pattern corresponding to the color photo resist; and forming a color filter through development of the lithographed color filter pattern. |
