PURPOSE: An intra prediction encoding device and a method thereof, and an intra prediction decoding device and a method thereof are provided to vary accuracy of an intra prediction direction by an encoding unit to adjust the number of intra prediction modes, thereby efficiently encoding/decoding an intra prediction mode of a current block. CONSTITUTION: An intra prediction mode determining unit(420) determines an intra prediction mode for a current block at every intra prediction mode set. The intra prediction mode determining unit determines the best intra prediction mode. An intra prediction mode set information encoding unit(430) encodes information about an intra prediction mode set corresponding to the determined best intra prediction mode. An intra prediction mode encoding unit(440) encodes the determined intra prediction mode. |
