PURPOSE: A crack diagnosis device and method for a solidified shell in a mold are provided to reduce repair costs by implementing scarfing on a slab surface only in case of vertical crack. CONSTITUTION: A crack diagnosis device for a solidified shell in a mold comprises a temperature sensing unit(110) and a control unit(190). The temperature sensing unit comprises a plurality of temperature sensors which are arranged in a matrix form within the mold and divided into first and second groups(101,102) about a crack generation possible area. The control unit obtains the average temperature of the first group and the average temperature of the other temperature sensors of the second group except for one in each row and diagnoses crack in a solidified shell discharged from the mold using the difference between the average temperatures of the first and second groups. |
