The method involves obtaining a disparity chart relative to a stereoscopic image. An incrustation window for an object is selected among a set of candidate windows, where the incrustation window has minimal average disparity that is calculated from the disparity chart. A left image window, in which a left image of the object is inserted, is defined as the incrustation window. A right image window in which a right image of the object is inserted, is defined as the incrustation window that is shifted horizontally by an offset equal to the average disparity. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program comprising a set of instructions for optimizing positioning of a incrustation window of an object on a sequence of a stereoscopic image (2) a storage unit (3) a device for optimizing positioning of a window of incrustation of an object on a sequence of a stereoscopic image.
