The invention relates to a composition for eliciting an immune response against Bluetongue virus (BTV) in an animal, the composition comprising an immunogenically effective amount of at least one strain of a twice inactivated Bluetongue virus and a biologically acceptable adjuvant comprising one or more of aluminum hydroxide, Quil-A saponin. The invention further relates to a method for enhancing the immune response in an animal to Bluetongue virus, method of preventing or ameliorating an outbreak of Bluetongue virus, method of producing inactivated whole Bluetongue virus. |
