The invention relates to a method for inducing apoptosis in a target cell which provides one or more binding molecules that selectively bind to cell surface ICAM-1, ICAM-1 binding molecule, nucleic acid encoding thereof, pharmaceutical composition comprising thereof, and use of binding molecule  in the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment and/or prevention of a disease requiring the destruction of a target cell.
