USE OF IL-23 ANTAGONIST FOR TREATMENT OF INFECTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and compositions comprising antagonists of IL-23 for the treatment of infections, such as chronic bacterial, viral and fungal infections.

SOLUTION: In one embodiment the antagonist is a binding compound, such as an antibody or binding fragment thereof, that binds to IL-23 or the p19 subunit thereof. In some embodiments the binding of the antibody blocks binding of IL-23 or its p19 subunit to the IL-23 receptor or the IL-23R subunit thereof. In another embodiment the antagonist of IL-23 binds to IL-23 receptor or the IL-23R subunit thereof.
