<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to pinpoint in which line segment there is a communication failure if the communication failure has occurred in a line segment and RS-232C devices at both ends cannot communicate with each other, in a serial signal remote transmission system. <P>SOLUTION: A serial signal remote transmission system is a system in which RS-232C devices (1, 2) in remote positions mutually convert a serial signal and an optical signal by transmission repeaters (3, 4) and transmit the serial signal by extending between the transmission repeaters (3, 4) with an optical cable (6). When a communication failure of being unable to receive a serial signal or an optical signal has occurred in the transmission repeater of one side, the serial signal remote transmission system adds communication failure information to a signal to be transmitted to the other transmission repeater, and transmits the resultant signal to allow the other transmission repeater to display the communication failure information. In addition, when the cut-off state of a signal is detected, control to block transmission of a serial signal is executed to allow both RS-232C device sides to detect the occurrence of a communication failure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
