A method for determining a search space, which is a set of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) candidates to be monitored by a terminal in a communication system, involves determining, as the search space, an extended search candidate formed by the value obtained by multiplying the number of search candidates applied to a carrier component and carrier indication information on the component carriers of user equipment if the user equipment uses a plurality of component carriers.
