<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of catalyst metallic particles used by improving the catalyst being applied to a reaction layer having a structure oriented to the catalyst side (PFF type) so that the hydrophilic functional group in the side chain of a polyelectrolyte forms a hydrophilic layer on the catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: The production method includes performing: a hydrophilic group adsorption step for making a hydrophilic group adsorb to catalyst metallic particles; a reduction step for reducing the hydrophilic group adsorbed to the catalyst metallic particles; and a pulverization step for performing wet pulverization of the catalyst following to the reduction step. Platinum particles are adopted as the catalyst metallic particles, and when NO<SB POS="POST">3</SB><SP POS="POST">-</SP>is adopted as the hydrophilic group, heating treatment is preferably carried out in an inert gas atmosphere at a temperature of 150°C or higher, as the reduction conditions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
