<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of methanol crossover where high concentration methanol, utilized for increasing the energy density, passes through a membrane and flows to the air electrode side. <P>SOLUTION: A direct methanol fuel cell in which a high concentration methanol aqueous solution can be used as fuel can be provided using a specific proton exchange membrane containing a specific aromatic hydrocarbon-based polymer having an area swelling rate in the range of 2-30% for 40°C, 30 wt% of methanol aqueous solution. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
