<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for creating a summary sentence by appropriately extracting significant sentences. <P>SOLUTION: Sentence/word extraction means 2 is configured to extract sentences composing a text, and to extract nouns included in each sentence as words. Significance calculation means 4 is configured to calculate the significance of each of those extracted words, and to calculate the significance of each sentence on the basis of the significance of each word included in each sentence. Sentence selection means 6 is configured to successively select the sentences recorded by a text recording part 12 in descending order of significance, and to select as many sentences as possible, for example, within a range in which the number of characters of the selected sentences does not exceed the predetermined number of characters.
