<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector that prevents an adjustment member from falling off. <P>SOLUTION: A projector 1 comprises: an optical modulator; an optical compensation element 6; an adjustment member 7 for adjusting a position of the optical compensation element 6; and a support member 8 for supporting the adjustment member 7. The adjustment member 7 includes an adjustment member body 71, a pair of projection parts 722 projecting in a direction departing from each other, and a protrusion 73 protruding from the adjustment member body. The support member 8 includes a pair of first raised portions 821 and 823, and a pair of second raised portions 83 positioned on both sides sandwiching the protrusion 73 and raised on an adjustment member 7 side, that are respectively arranged at facing positions. On the first raised portions 821 and 823, engagement portions are provided engaging with the projection parts 722 in a fashion that the adjustment member 7 is rotatable with respect to the support member 8.
