In a non-steady-state process in a heat exchanger, a rapid change of the physical state of an applied first fluid is intended to be enabled. This is achieved by means of a heat exchanger having a heat exchanger casing which surrounds an interior for accommodating a first fluid, and having multiple fluid-tight passages for a second fluid, which passages run through the interior of the heat exchanger casing, wherein the heat exchanger casing has a liquid-accommodating region for accommodating first liquid fluid and a gas-accommodating region for accommodating first gaseous fluid. In an embodiment as a vaporizer, the cross section of the heat exchanger casing tapers from the liquid-accommodating region to the gas-accommodating region, with the result that the liquid-accommodating region has a larger volume than the gas-accommodating region. In an embodiment as a condenser, the cross section of the heat exchanger casing tapers from the gas-accommodating region to the liquid-accommodating region, with the result that the gas-accommodating region has a larger volume than the liquid-accommodating region. Furthermore, methods for rapidly vaporizing and condensing a fluid are described. |
