PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for protecting a pump are provided to improve the stability and durability of a pump by preventing the unnecessary no-load operation of the pump. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for protecting a pump comprises a tank(11), a pump(15), a valve(13), an operation panel(21), and a controller(23). The tank stores fluid. The pump transfers the fluid. The valve is installed in a pipe, which connects the tank and the pump, and controls the flow of the fluid. An order is inputted to the operation panel. When the operation of the pump is detected from the operation panel, the controller opens the valve and controls the pump to be operated in predetermined times. |
