Method for grinding edges of rectangular glass panes

The four edges are ground in succession without turning the glass panes or without changing the position of the grinding assemblies (A-D). Prior to grinding each edge to be ground is stopped against a restriction (13,14,15,16) placed on the side of the grinding assembly and in vertical alignment with same. The glass panes are each moved by a lift and transport mechanism past the relevant grinding assembly and touching same. Before grinding an edge at right angles to the previous edge a transport step (24) is completed into the transverse direction.
