<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode material providing a lithium secondary battery with a high capacity and a high level of safety required of a battery for a plug-in hybrid vehicle, and a lithium secondary battery achieving a high capacity and a high level of safety. <P>SOLUTION: A positive electrode material in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention contains a first positive electrode active material represented by the formula: Li<SB POS="POST">1.1+x</SB>Ni<SB POS="POST">a</SB>M1<SB POS="POST">b</SB>M2<SB POS="POST">c</SB>O<SB POS="POST">2</SB>, where M1 represents Mo or W, M2 represents Co, or a combination of Co and Mn, -0.07≤x≤0.1, 0.7≤a<0.98, 0.02≤b≤0.06, and 0<c≤0.28, and a second positive electrode active material represented by the formula: Li<SB POS="POST">1.03+x</SB>Ni<SB POS="POST">a</SB>Ti<SB POS="POST">b</SB>M3<SB POS="POST">c</SB>O<SB POS="POST">2</SB>, where M3 represents Co, or a combination of Co and Mn, -0.03≤x≤0.07, 0.7≤a≤0.8, 0.05≤b≤0.1, and 0.1≤c≤0.25.
