<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate replacement of a rake of a multistage drying apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The multistage drying apparatus includes: drying bed surfaces that are provided at a plurality of stages vertically in a drying chamber, one end of each of which receives a matter to be dried and another end of the each of which puts out the matter to be dried so as to transport it in a zigzag fashion from a high place to a lower place and further that form a passage of a heating medium; a plurality of driving shafts 3 which are provided in parallel along a vertical direction while penetrating through drying bed surfaces, respectively; rakes 6 each of which has a center shaft through-hole 8 and causes the driving shaft to penetrate through the center shaft through-hole 8 and which are arranged on the drying bed surfaces and are engaged with the driving shafts 3 so as to be rotation-transmitted and which are used for agitating and transporting the matter to be dried; a heating medium introducing port which is provided so as to supply the heating medium into the drying chamber; a charging port which is provided so as to supply the matter to be dried to a load receiving end of the drying bed surface of the uppermost stage at the high place of the drying chamber; and a discharge port which is provided so that the matter to be dried is taken out from a putting out end of the drying bed surface of the lowermost stage at a low place of the drying chamber.
