摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deterioration of contrast by suppressing the occurrence of a kickback phenomenon as much as possible, and to suppress the deterioration of display quality by suppressing coagulation of charged particles as much as possible. <P>SOLUTION: An electrophoretic display device 1 includes: a pair of substrates 6, 7 which are oppositely disposed across a predetermined width space and in which at least one of them has optical transparency; a plurality of pixel electrodes 9 which are formed on the surface of one substrate 6 in the pair of substrates 6, 7; one or a plurality of common electrodes 10 which are formed on the surface of the other substrate 7 in the pair of substrates 6, 7 so as to face the plurality of pixel electrodes 9; a liquid material 14 which is prepared by dispersing two kinds of charged particles 11, 12 having different colors and polarities and enclosed between the pair of substrates 6, 7; and drive control means which generates a write pulse, generating a potential difference causing the movement of the charged particles 11, 12, between the pixel electrodes 9 and the common electrodes 10.
