The method involves exchanging data between motor cars (F1-F5) using a car-car communication system, where the data represents illuminating parameters that indicate illumination settings of an illumination system and a position of the motor cars. The illuminating parameters of each motor car are adjusted based on the received data to optimize illumination at traffic conditions. Information about objects in environment of the motor cars is determined using an environment sensor and incorporated with the illuminating parameters of the motor cars. The illumination parameters are selected from a group consisting of illumination width, illumination angle, illumination direction, illumination height or shape of an illumination area. The data comprises information about a driving road, straight driving condition and driving condition along curves or bends. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling illumination of traffic conditions caused by vehicles.
