The electric conductor retaining device (1) has a receiving channel that is provided with a bottom section (2) and leg sections (3,4). An upper edge portion (5) of the leg section (3) and an upper edge portion (6) of the leg section (4) are provided with a wave-shaped course region along a longitudinal direction of the receiving channel. The bottom section is provided with a groove-shaped recess (10). The amplitude of the wave-shaped course region is varied along the longitudinal direction of the receiving channel. An independent claim is included for a method for contacting electric conductor.
