<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress coloring of an image in a stereoscopic image display system using circular polarization. <P>SOLUTION: The stereoscopic image display system includes an image display device and polarizing glasses worn by a viewer. The image display device includes a first polarizing plate on the viewing side surface, and also includes a first 1/4 wave plate closer to the viewing side than the first polarizing plate, by which the device emits circular polarization to the viewing side. The polarizing glasses include a viewing section for the right eye and a viewing section for the left eye, and each of the viewing section for the right eye and the viewing section for the left eye includes a second polarizing plate and a 1/4 wave plate closer to the image display device than the second polarizing plate. At least either one of the first 1/4 wave plate provided on the viewing side surface of the image display device and the second 1/4 wave plate provided on the image display device side of the polarizing glasses has a ratio Re450/Re550 between retardation Re550 in the wavelength 550nm and retardation Re450 in the wavelength 450nm equal to 1.01 or less. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
